On Sunday the 11th July 2010, R.S.D.A.C hosted it's annual Chernobyl, Fun and Family Day At Lough Rynn Caravan Park and Amenity area. This was an even bigger event this year with extra attractions and actvities made available such as traditional Irish Dancing and facepainting for the visiting children from the Chernobyl region and local children in attendance. This was the third-year running for this community orientated event.

 

 

The children and their families were treated to Live music, D.J, marquees,barbeque, pig on a spit, donkey rides, boat-trips and angling instruction from Recreational Angling Ireland .

A fleet of six 19foot lakeboats were located at the lough shore to take all willing participants out on supervised angling trips, "trolling" for pike and perch on a rotational basis. Over 50 children were catered for and introduced to the wonderful and peaceful pastime that is angling.

R.S.D.A.C are indebted to Recreational Angling Ireland for their continued support in terms of tackle and angling equipment which is invaluable in striving to ensure that the future of angling is safe guarded by helping organise many children's angling events nationwide fostering an interest in angling amongst the younger generations.

 

R.S.D.A.C would like to give a special thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to the successful running of this noble annual charity event. Were it not for the collective efforts and generosity of the many volunteers, local businesses, host families, R.A.I, safety stewards and club members none of this would have been possible.

 

This display of kindred community spirit will go a long way to ensuring the memories of these children’s visit to Ireland will be filled with happiness and perhaps even foster some added interest in the recreational pursuit of angling amongst local children for many years to come.
